Riva del Garda is located near Lake Garda, in the Province of Trento. Due to its position, it is a major tourist centre, because it allows people to have a quick access to the Dolomites area. Beacause of this, the economy of the city is based on tourism, both business and cultural.
Unfortunately it does not have a train station: the closest one is in Rovereto, and it offers a connection to Riva del Garda by bus. It takes only 30 minutes.
Tourists can also get there by ferry, departing from the harbor of Limone sul Garda, Malcesine, and Desenzano.
As soon as you arrive, you have to choose the hotel, and it is not very simple, since there are so many, located in different areas of the city. Some of them are outside the city, near parks, where you can fully enjoy nature. Others are in the Lake Tenno zone, 5 km away, or near the waterfalls of Varone. The most exclusive one, the four-star-hotels, are located in the historic downtown area, near the main shopping streets, where all the people meet at night, especially during summer.
The historical centre and the lakefront are full of bars where you can find a very good ice cream, as well as restaurants serving the traditional food. You can’t miss it!
If you like shopping, the main road, from Riva del Garda to the Arco di Trento is full of shops selling clothes, shoes, accessories. If you don’t like shopping mall but you still want shopping, go to the streets around the Molo1. That zone is also very nice to see, since ferries to Desenzano, Malcesine, Limone sul Garda, and La Rocca, departs from there.
Go buy something you will wear at night, in the pubs and club the city offers.
