The area around the Garda Lake is not only well known for the lake, but also for the Parco Giardino Sigurtà, which is one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. Yes, non only in Italy but in the world.
Located on the Moreniche hills, just a few kilometers from Verona, it helds 5 great flowering seasons which are: tulips, irises, roses, lilies and asters), the Great Oak, the 18 flowering ornamental lakes, the Hermitage, the Great Lawn and the Medicinal Herb Garden. Those are only some of the attractions you can find on this 600.000 sqm oasis.
Originally buil during the 17th century, the garden of Villa Maffei, was bought in 1941 by Carlo Sigurtà. He wanted to draw water from the Mincio river, and he succeeded in it, in fact he transformed the arid hillside in a very huge green garden.
Tourists can also visit the park’s farm, which as been transformed in an educational center in order to help families with problems.
You can go around by foot, by bike, or by the train which follows the so-called “Itinerario degli Incanti” route, 7 km long.
All the people who did it were so satisfied about the excursion and had positive opinion about the place, the staff and the accuracy of the park. Everything is always great to see, all the flowers are kept well and the smell is simply divine. Try to believe it: you will see.
The best moment to visit the Giardino is in April, when tourists have the chance to see hundreds of thousands of tulips. By the way, there is also something to see there, so don’t worry if you can’t go during this time.
